One person you might want to talk to is Kyoko Hirano, head of New York's
Japan Society film program.  She did her undergraduate at Todai but her
Ph.D. here at NYU in Cinema Studies.  You can find the Japan Society's
homepage on-line and I believe there's a link to email, or a listing of
personnel's email addresses.  Otherwise, I happen to be going there
tonight for a lecture, and should I see her, I will try to ask this
question.
