VCD help

Hi,

I just purchased a Raite 715 DVD player (like the
former Apex player, region codes can be removed on
this one), which also plays VCD and SVCD, as well as
MP3s.  So I was wondering if someone on the list
could give me their opinion about which contemporary
Japanese films are worth owning on VCD (there's just
so many which I haven't seen, and, aside from some
obvious titles, I don't know which are good and
which are not so good).  I recently picked up KIDS
RETURN,a favorite, and POSTMAN BLUES (hasn't arrived
yet), and THE GATES OF HEAVENLY PEACE (while not a
Japanese film, still of interest to me).  Anyway, any
suggestions regarding which VCDs would be nice or
essential additions to my collection would be greatly
appreciated.  As for DVD stuff, I recently got
POPPYA,THE RAILROAD MAN, and, while it had some fine
moments, was just overall too maudlin for my tastes.
