Sony Pictures in Japan has two entities:

SPEJ (Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan)
SPTVJ (Sony Pictures Television Japan)

SPTVJ licenses SPE/Columbia Tristar Picture's movies and
television shows to local stations such as NHK, WOWOW,
Fuji TV, etc.  SPEJ is structured from two divisions - Theatrical
Distribution and Home Entertainment - each distributing
Columbia Tristar and acquired products.

There seems to be  a project led by SPEJ to create a live action
feature movie of 'ASTRO BOY (Tetsuwan Atom)' next year.
I am not sure what entity is funding what %.  Pls refer for details
in "Sony no Broadband Senryaku (Sony's Broadband Strategy)"
by Sasaki Hiroshi, publisher: Nihon Jitsugyou Shuppan-sha,
March 2001.
