Masumura Attack

As I was browsing around the net today, I discovered that there's going to 
be an "encore" presentation of the Masumura retrospective that took place in 
Tokyo earlier this year??(? - I think).  It looks like the retro's been 
touring all around the country.  This time it'll be at the Nakano Musashino 
Hall, starting on Sept. 8.  Daiei has a nice web site set up, with 
information about the retro (no schedule for the Tokyo encore yet), videos, 
books and details about the films.

Masumura's films seem to be enjoying some revived popularity these days.  
Apparently several of the titles have been shown on satellite and cable TV 
in Japan.  (A friend was kind enough to tape "Music", "A Wife Confesses" and 
"Danryuu" for me a couple of weeks ago.)  Ten or fifteen of the films have 
also been (re)released on video, and in the next 3 months there are going to 
be some DVD releases as well.
