You have to realize that the works were shown in a tiny theater in
Shimokitazawa which fits about 70 people. Not only is the series not
going to create much of a hubbub with the theater-going audience, but
with the major media in general ignoring independent cinema, there was
not going to be much support there. This, and the lack of government
support, makes it completely different from the DOGMA project.
Still, some critics did write about it. In general, my impression is
that Tokyo Trash Baby was the one written about the most, with Visitor Q
and Gipps behind it. TTB was eligible for best 10 voting last year and
did quite well in the Eiga geijutsu poll. Still, it was my impression
that most people were discussing the individual texts and not the
potential of the project itself.
