As my final work for university will be about korean and japanese film, its
industry, its history and its culture (not sure about the exact questions
and hypothesis yet). i am looking for reliable and good literature for
korean cinema. i found some books on korean film at amazon, but couldnt
figure out whats good and whats not.
here are some titels i found and which sound promising and maybe helping
getting a deeper look inside korean cinema:

Kyung Hyun Kim's THE REMASCULINIZATION OF KOREAN CINEMA.
It's the premier book on Korean film available and it focuses on the 'Korean
New Wave', with chapters devoted to the more prominent arthouse directors,
such as Jang Sun-woo and Hong Sangsoo.

IM KWON TAEK: THE MAKING OF A NATIONAL CINEMA

CONTEMPORARY KOREAN CINEMA by Hyangjin Lee is the only book out there right
now comparing North/South Korean films

TRACES OF KOREAN CINEMA FROM 1945-1959, which is informative and chockful of
stills and posters from classic KFilm.

THE CINEMA OF JAPAN AND KOREA

And Anthony Leong's book, KOREAN CINEMA: THE NEW HONG KONG, is more a
collection of reviews...

if anybody on the list can comment on any of these i would be very grateful.

looking forward to your suggestions.
