Udine Far East Film Festival

Yes, I will. Miike arrived here in Torino on Tuesday and we opened our big
retrospective. He's a very nice guy to talk with, we had a number of
interviews in these few days and he was always glad to reply to the same old
questions again and again... Yesterday night we had the opening of the
retrospective and the theater was full. Lots of people had to go back home
without seen DoA and of course without seeing Miike. He started thanking the
people of Torino in the name of the Japanese people for the wonderful
Olympics! The whole talk was really pleasant, with Shiota Tokitoshi (who
played the most funy roles in some of his movies) and him making fun of each
other. Tom Mes was there too, and he told us when he first "met" Miike's
films. Tonight Miike will present his Ichi the Killer and Tobe Hooper's The
Texas Chainsaw Massacre, that we decided to screen as he had told us it was
one of the films that shocked him most when he first saw it. Tomorrow we
will go to Udine, as I said, where he is very happy to present Imprint after
it was refused by Showtime (this decision, he says, surprised him a bit but
it was Showtime's right to do this, so "shikata ga nai").
