Good catch, Alex! I hadn't thought about Delannoy in a while, although I
have him in a list of very old cultural figures, including the composer
Elliot Carter (99), the artist Dorothea Tanning (97), the actress Luise
Rainer (97), the singer Magda Olivero (97), the radio writer Norman Corwin
(97), the novelist Julien Gracq (97), the historian Jacques Barzun (100),
the mystery novelist Phyllis Whitney (104), the architect Oscar Niemeyer
(100), the film producer Run Run Shaw (100), the novelist Edward Upward
(104), the anthropologist Claude Levi-Strauss (99), and the cartoonist Boris
Efimov (107), among others. Another on the list, the choreographer Igor
Moiseyev, just died on November 2 at the age of 101.
