reputation of Ringu series

Dear Emma,

I'm afraid so far it has not been translated. The different Ringu-related parts are only a few pages each, so if you know someone who reads Japanese, he/she might be able to summarize those parts for you, so you could decide whether some wd. be worth getting translated or not. It's not an unusual approach - I used to do translations for law firms, and that's the way they all dealt with materials in Japanese they needed to deal with.

There's also (I understand from a posting on this list) an extremely recent interview with Nakata Hideo by Jason Gray, and Jason might be able to direct you to an online Japan Times URL where you can read the interview in English.

Another good book for background reference is:

Japanese Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films (1950-1992), by Stuart Galbraith. It was recently reprinted in a paperback edition (McFarland 2007) ISBN 0-7864-2126-6.

It contains good information re approx. 100 different films.

Best Wishes,

Michael McCaskey
