Taniguchi Senkichi

Thanks Aaron for letting us know about Taniguchi's passing. I've also liked his early films, Escape to Tomorrow in particular. But one thing puzzles me. You, like most authorites, describe the 1947 film Snow Trail as his debut. Both the JMDB and KineJun however list him as director of a 1946 film, Toho Showboat. Do you or anyone else happen to know anything about this film and why Snow Trail is always listed as Taniguchi's debut despite this evidence to the contrary?
