I think they are watching Ernst Lubitsch's MADAME DUBARRY (1919).

Betreff: Silent film in Yukisada's Spring Snow
Hi everyone,
Just caught up with Yukisada's Mishima adaptation Spring Snow / Haru no yuki, and was intrigued by the scene where the hero's family have a European silent film privately projected at their home. Can anyone identify the film they're watching. We think it's probably German, judging from the style of the clips you see.
Also, as it seems Yukisada's film was a commercial hit, does anyone know if the rest of Mishima's tetralogy is being or is going to be filmed?
ALEX
