Hi all,
it's been on the net a few weeks, but for anyone who has missed it: There is a very interesting interview (or the first part of one) up on www.flowerwild.net. Akiko Ashizawa is one of the few female DP's, and the interview follows her career from Jishu-Eiga to working as an assistant director in Pink Film, to starting work as a DP shooting mainly documentaries; Her move into feature films will be covered in the next installment, I suppose. Her more recent work includes Kunitoshi Manda's "Unloved", Kiyoshi Kurosawa's "Sakebi" and "Loft", and Takahisa Zeze's take on Tanizaki's "Tattoo" (actually a follow-up to Hisayasu Sato's take on it).
The interview is in Japanese, but there are some info's available in English on her website (though it doesn't seem to have been updated recently):
