Dear all,

This news is so upsetting, but I thought many of you would like to know.
Keiko sensei was very energetic, and I was hoping that she would continue to
be active in our field for a long time...

With best wishes,

Chika Kinoshita
Assistant Professor of Film Studies
University of Western Ontario

Dear Film Studies Colleagues:

I have some very sad news to report. As you may have heard on television,
radio or in the newspaper, Prof. Keiko McDonald passed away over the
weekend. While fishing at a club in Indiana County, she lost her footing,
fell into the water, hit her head, and drowned. She was pronounced dead on
the morning of Sunday September 14.

I am in touch with the chair of her department, Hiroshi Nara, and have
asked him to keep us posted as to any memorial arrangements that might be
made since I know many of you will want to attend or participate in them.

Other than that, the obituary in today's newspaper (see link below) says
that funeral arrangements will be handled by Frederick Bowser Funeral Home
in Homer City. Her husband's name is Charles McDonald and they lived on
Bayard Road in Oakland, should any of you want to be in touch with him.

Again, I am sorry to be the bearer of such upsetting news but I thought
you would all want to know about the passing of our esteemed and valued
colleague.
