Research projects or publications: I am currently involved in compiling a comprehensive finding aid on Library's holdings of Japanese films, one of the largest collections of Japanese cinema outside of Japan.  The collection's highlights are pre-1945 films seized by the U.S. occupation authority (the subject of a recent discussion on this list) and post-war films deposited by Japanese producers (primarily Toho) as part of the copyright registration process.  I have also programmed screenings of Japanese films at the Library's Mary Pickford Theater (e.g. the 2005 series "Mirror of Tree, Mirror of Field: A Celebration of the Life and Music of Toru Takemitsu")

Interests with regard to Japanese film and moving image media: Japanese film industry past and present, especially the resilient studio system.
