Kobayashi Keiju

[Aaron Gerow]

Another great postwar performer has passed away: Kobayashi Keiju.  
Unfortunately, he was not too well known abroad because he worked with  
lesser known directors (such as Okamoto Kihachi or Horikawa Hiromichi)  
and in series comedy (the Shacho series), but he was central in  
defining the "salaryman" image in the postwar, while also showing the  
cracks underneath. He will sorely be missed.
