[KineJapan] Copyright-free images

Dear Friends,

I have just completed my new book, an history of Japanese animated movies,
to be published next January in Italy. I know each country has different
laws regarding the publication of copyright-free stills. I think in Japan
one can freely use pictures from a movie if it has been produced before
1978. Can anybody confirm or help me finding out the exact low?
