DearKineJapaners,I wouldn’twant anyone to be distracted from identifying those actor-shots from last week, but, since you might not all look at 'Asian Music’, I thought I’d mention that there’sa piece in the current issue (46:2) by Michael W, HARRIS: ‘A Score Full ofGrief: Fumio Hayasaka’s Music for Sanshō the Bailiff, (1954)’There’s arich analysis of the musical themes, using both Japanese and westerninstruments.  Harris is not tentative instating the philosophical views which he believes that Mizoguchi and Hayasakawere making.Harris alsocites some of the english literature on Mizoguchi, including the unpublishedmanuscripts of Leonard Schrader, which are at Berkeley.  I don’t see them in the Berkeley catalogueand it seems to take a personal visit to see them.  I’d like to do that but I doubt my limitedtravel budget will ever get me to Berkeley. It would be nice if they were published on a website someday.Roger
