Dear Laurel,

      I'm inclined to agree with Neil Jones on this one; it sound 
like your larvae have encountered excessive juvenile hormone analogs 
somewhere.  Some plant you are using (though I do not know of any 
analogs being isolated from Plantago), or perhaps something you are 
using to line the containers you are in which you are rearing the 
larvae.  Just my two cents worth.
