butterflies in singapore

hi folks,

i took a day off from work to show two friends what you can find in
singapore. i chose a nice stretch of jungle in upper pierce reservoir. the
weather in the morning was rather overcast but it soon cleared up and we
had blue sky and bright sun. 

there were altogether 48 species (but i included two moths) and some of
them in abundance. this is only a summary:

the highlight was a tree where about 10 Common Tree Nymph (Idea stolli
logani) could be seen. 

we had about 5 Great Helen (Papilio iswara iswara), 
1 Great Mormon (Papilio memnon agenor), 
1 Banded Swallowtail (Papilio demolion demolion), 
more than 20 Magpie Crow (Euploea radamanthus radamanthus), 
a few Striped Black Crow (Euploea eyndhovii gardineri), 
a few Striped Blue Crow (Euploea mulciber mulciber), 
1 King Crow (Euploea phaenareta castelnaui), 
1 Abisara geza niya, 
2 Fivebar Swordtail (Pathysa antiphates itamputi), 
approx. 10 Tailed Green Jay (Graphium agamemnon agamemnon), 
a few Common Bluebottle (Graphium sarpedon luctatius), 
more than 10 Graphium evemon, 
1 female Common Mormon (Papilio polytes romulus), 
3 Rustic (Cupha erymanthis lotis), 
more than 10 Cruiser (Vindula dejone erotella), 
1 Malay Lacewing (Cethosia hypsia hypsia), 
1 Royal Assyrian (Terionos terpander robertsia), 
more than 30 Chocolate Pansy (Junonia hedonia ida), 
approx. 10 Malayan Eggfly (Hypolimnas anomala anomala), 
9 Commander (Moduza procris milonia), 
more than 20 Malay Viscount (Tanaecia pelea pelea), 
5 Horsefield's Baron (Tanaecia iapis puseda), 
15 Archduke (Lexias pardalis dirteana), 
3 Eulaceura osteria kumana, 
3 Branded Imperial (Eooxylides tharis distanti), 
1 Common Imperial (Cheritra freja)
