Trees used by Monarch butterflies in California

I have followed this thread with interest.
Is it really necessary to use Eucalyptus.
Having done a little research it appears that it is fairly conclusively
established that it is not the specific plant species that matters
but the microclimatic conditions. This being the case it would be much
better not to use a sterilising exotic tree but find something more
suitable instead.

The point has already been made about the educative effect of doing the wrong
thing. Getting the message across properly is very very important.
