Based upon my own personal experience and an extensive literature
search, the general consensus is that the adults of all of the Ceratomia
species are non-feeders. However, I have one old reference (1880s) that
cites a capture of Ceratomia amyntor feeding at honeysuckle. While this
might normally be dismissed out of hand, the author was well respected
for a keen sense of observation, especially with respect to sphingids.
Does anyone have PERSONAL observations of feeding activity in any
Ceratomia species????
