I do like to agree with people when possible -- so yes, I agree that there
is a style difference :-)
The communication style I do my best to use is commonly referred to as
"being diplomatic" in the society that I live in. Neil, I do admire the
passion you display with regard to butterfly conservation; however I do not
admire your personal attacks and defamation of other people who chose to use
this list to share information and their personal views. Neither do I
admire such attacks by any other list participants. Lets talk butterflies
for a while :-)

I notice a difference in style between us. You seem to prefer oblique
comments.
It is not just a question of political activism that concerns us here.
People have the right to free speech and to what ever political views they
wish.
However people do not have the right to deceive others by using false
and devious means.
I wonder how many of Ms Rogers clients believe that they are benefiting
butterflies when they are buying them from her Butterflies as Baubles
Business. How many of them are aware that the people are involved this
business
are the very same people who have bullied, attacked and defamed respected
scientists who are trying to conserve the refuges of the over wintering
monarchs in Mexico.
Honesty is perhaps more important to some people than others.
I try never to make a comment without solid FACTS to back it up. Others do
not adopt this practice.
What is, I am sure , important to you is your right to continue studying
lepidoptera. I too care about my ability to carry a net, rear caterpillars
and all the other things that a lepidopterist does. I believe that
it is important that we all clamp down on those who bring disrepute to
the study of lepidoptera. Some people on this list have sadly expressed
opinions which give support to even criminal activity. (I can quote
examples.) The regulators
are watching. It is up to us to show that we are responsible citizens by
speaking out against those who behave irresponsibly.
