Apocynaceae

Apocynum, the genus of Dogbanes/Indian Hemp is in the Dogbane Family or 
Apocynaceae.  Like Milkweeds it is a very attractive nectar source for 
butterflies. 

We keep an eye on several patches of Dogbane in our neighborhood, and I 
have not knowingly seen any evidence of a borer but will keep on the 
lookout.  The brilliantly irridescent green Dogbane Beetle, is a very 
attractive denizen of Dogbane stands, but does not seem to do much harm 
to Dogbane plants.
