Dear Sir/Madam

I recently found a caterpilla between some bags of stone which had been
placed on the grass.
The caterpilla was very large in my opinion, and I have not been able to
identify it. It was over 2" long and had a head diameter of 1/2" and
slightly tapered to the rear. It's rear came down to a chisel point and
seemed hairy. The head was thicker than the body and looked quite ferocious,
it seemed to have four "teeth"on the underside of its head. The colour
generally was a drab greeny brown but nearer the head there were swirls like
eyes (I think four in total) they were not bright but a yellow and black
colour.
I have as yet been unable to identify it, could you, or point me in the
right direction.

Best regards, Brian Riding
