Not only can you put the visual stuff on the web, but my enthusiastic
molecular
naturalists assure me that before long the entire genome and
variabilitycan be
posted (although down-loading will be slow).
 
In that case you wouldn't need to preserve the specimen, just squash it,
sequence it, and throw it away. University administrators will be glad
to
recover all that wasted space, just like Princeton and Stanford did
decades
ago.
