It also seems obvious that NABA has effectively 
marketed two issues (collecting/pinning and 
breeding/releasing) in an emotion stirring, headline grabbing
way to help generate its large membership base from scratch in
just 8 years.

This marketing campaign continues today not just in
the NY Times but on the Internet. For example if a bride
and groom goes into Yahoo does a search for 
 "butterfly release" it brings up:

A butterfly enthusiast/collector going on a NABA
