Just thought I'd give this a proper thread name so that 1) those who are
wanting to post relative to the original theme of "tale of two continents"
can do so without opening the post and finding this evolved topic, and 2)
that those who have contextually evolved can have a "reply" header more
suited to that theme.
It is wise to make sure that what we have in our posts is actually relative
to the header. I am very interested in a topic of _Creator_ and one of
_two continents_ I would (along with probably everyone else here) just
like to know that when I open a post that the header is what it is actually
about. So, having changed headers (topics).
Living here in the old south (the US civil was started here in Charleston)
one is aware that the word "boy" was used for centuries by white people in
regard to black people. Even young white boys would referr to an old black
man as "boy". "Hey, boy, can you give me a helping hand." Now I worded
this last phrase specifically to illustrate that many white people had no
"meanness" of intent in using the term boy. However, all blacks were
always offended by this word regardless of the intent. One of the main
reasons being that white people never referred to themselves as "boy".
In todays south "boy" is still the worst term a white person can use toward
a balck man.
We Christians (I'm just using that religion as that is what I am - others
here of other faiths/religions can speak for themselves and their
perspective) see and hear postings about "Nature" or "Mother Nature" all
the time. We (like the old southern black man) just smile and keep on
going. Yet, we are nonetheless always offended when that termonology is
used in a serious way to express the users actual idea of origins - a
universe devoid of the devine. Just as the word "boy" has a valid use, so
does nature or mother nautre. And we Christian lepsters often use the
terms ourselves as harmless and unscientific terms of endearment.
But there is an unleveled playing field here. Nature is often used here
as a concise way of referring to the universe as a godlessly evolved
entity. We Christians just keep our mouths shut and go on. Yet, when we
Christians post here of The Creator or Creation having a divine origin we
frequently are publicly blasted with snide remarks, condescending pity,
and basically told to take our crap elsewhere. Well, sometimes we get
tired of this one way intolerant prejudice -- even if it is largely done in
ignorance and without true malice.
Where did butterflies come from? If Darwin's Natural Evolution is not
only a welcome but solicited topic of explanation of origin and future
function here, then so is Yahweh's Divine Creation.
The God of the Old Testament bible - the God of Abraham - is the God of all
the world's Moslems, Christians, and Jews. That is the great majority of
everyone on this planet. Those in the rest of the world's religions are
welcome to speak for themselves. But I think I can say this for all of us
religious/faith based folk. Secularists think they are really hot stuff -
especially atheistic secularists. But Religion still rules this world -
both the bad and good of it. There are plenty of highly educated people in
the world that are also very religious.
There I have vented. And in a nice way -- for such a volatile area of
life.
