Hi Ron,

Thank you once again for your reply. I had a real difficult time
with my field guides and trying to positively ID the Sleepy Orange - for the
same reason you mentioned. If I hadn't seen him/her/it flying about, and
viewed the deep orange-yellow coloration with the black/dk. brown? "margins"
(I think that is the appropriate term for the outer-most edges of both FW
and HW) of the top-side of the wings, along with the overall size - I would
not have been able to venture a guess.

I saw a total of 6 Sleepys while I walked around. They were very fast and
difficult to get a picture of. The instant one would land on a flower, it
would quickly open and then close it's wings. So I was never able to get a
picture of the top-side (dorsal view?).

The Tropical Checkered Skipper was a challenge as well, with the picture not
being so great to begin with. I have to say that it is a very good feeling
to have you confirm the ID.

In regard to variations, the Julia I saw (and was unable to get a picture
of) -
had no visible spot on it's FW, viewing from a distance of about 5 feet. As
for the Buckeye's, there were loads of them! I also saw quite a few
Crescentspots that I could not ID precisely.

Thanks again for your help and take care,
Mikie
