Black Witches (Ascalapha odorata) are on the move across four states. In the
last three days I've received Black Witch reports from Arizona to Louisiana:

What follows is one of the more interesting reports...

Subject: Black Witch sightings in Louisiana

Hello,
I am the Curator of the Grand Isle Butterfly Dome
(www.grandisleport.com), located on Grand Isle Louisiana, Louisiana's only
inhabited barrier island.
Today on a collecting trip to the local state park, I encountered dozens
of Ascalapha odorata resting under the raised wooden boardwalks leading to
the beach. We collected a few to put in "the Dome", and will be going
tomorrow again to check on them. We have a few varieties of cassias growing
in the dome, and hopefully may get some females to lay eggs. Last year
after tropical storm Lily, I also captured some specimens that had found
their way into my house.

We have been having a strong southerly wind for some time now.

Wayne Keller
