  * GRAD NIGHT AT THE OPERA: ONCE ACTS / (04-17-2009 7:30 PM)/
The world class Yale Opera Company will perform two one-act operas:
Jules Massenet's "La Navarraise" and William Walton's "The Bear". A
"Grad Night" pre-concert reception will take place in the Blocker
room on the second floor of Sprague Hall at 6:30 featuring commentary
by the Stage Director, special sneak-peak appearances by singers, and
light refreshments. The show starts at 7:30.  $5 student tickets are
available at the Sprague Hall box office on the corner of Wall St.

  * CYNTHIA'S SPORTS TIP OF THE WEEK
Did you know that by riding a bike instead of driving an automobile
for all travel is equal to the planting of 170 trees? Enjoy the warm
weather, increase your fitness, and reduce your carbon footprint by
hopping on this wonderfully efficient mode of transportation!

  * ELIZABETH AND ELIZABETH'S HEALTH TIP OF THE WEEK
Got milk?  Optimal calcium intake is essential for good bone health. 
Although you are in graduate school you may think its too late to do
anything.  However, you can still maximize bone growth with
appropriate calcium intake. Male and female 25 years of age, should
be receiving 1000mg of calcium a day!  Pregnant? You should aim for
1200 mg per day. Some ideas for calcium rich foods: milk (duh),
yogurt, soy milk, apricots, and rice pudding. 

  * ERIN'S COMMUNITY SERVICE TIP OF THE WEEK
Getting hungry for spring veggies and other local treats?  Check out
the New Haven farmer's market in Wooster Square on April 18 from 10

you can use CINTAX, the non-resident income tax preparation software
available to international students and scholars. If you have not

April 15!

for readings of Living Sunlight: How Plants Bring the Earth to Life
by Molly Bang and Penny Chisholm, and afterward, plant your own
flower seeds.  Then at noon, Allison Aboud Holzer, author of the
picture-book "Jenny Makes a Junkyard Friend", gives new perspectives
on recycling that include innovation, creativity, and fun. There will
be recycling activities for all! Held at the Yale Barnes and Noble
Bookstore at 77 Broadway.

The inaugural Environmental Film Festival (April 16-18) at Yale will
showcase cutting-edge documentaries and short films to raise
awareness of current environmental issues. It will also offer an
opportunity to speak with filmmakers and other experts in an intimate
setting. All screenings and special events are free and open to the

Registration Open! Join us for a city-wide cycling celebration, and a
fundraiser for local environmental work! Riders will set out from East
Rock park for a cross-city bicycling adventure. On our way to West
Rock, we will eat tasty food, hear great music, plant a tree, and
explore the city's parks. We'll travel along the Farmington Canal
Trail and official city bike lanes, pass through many of the city's
beautiful neighborhoods, and make stops in Beaver Pond and Edgewood
Parks on their way between the Rocks. Think you're hard-core? Take
detours to the top of the two rocks. Have a little kid in tow? Join
us for part of the ride. Families and college students, 20-something
hipsters and teenagers, young and old, serious riders and weekend

programs and events for new graduate and professional students, and
