Announcing the Winner of the CIYCL Fourth International Yiddish-Into-English Poetry Translation Contest

 

The California Institute for Yiddish Culture and Language (CIYCL) is pleased to announce the winner of our Fourth Annual International Yiddish-Into-English Poetry Translation Contest, the only contest of its kind.  The winner is Lena Watson of London, England.   Her skillful translation of Mordechai Gebirtig’s work, “My Spring”/ “Mayn Friling ”is true to the meaning, rhythm and rhyme of the original.   As the winner, Ms. Watson receives a prize of $180.00.
