Mendele Personal Notices & Announcements

March 6, 2011

To minimize wear and tear on the untershames, three requests:
1. Send time-sensitive notices well in advance.
2. Send material as plain text: no HTML, other coding, or attachments;and
write MENDELE PERSONALS in the subject line.
3. Correspond directly with the person who or organization which has
posted the notice, *not* with your ever-beleaguered untershames.

Subject: Shloyme Rosenberg- missing historical novels
Date: Mon, 21 Feb 2011 17:39:21 +0000

I am trying to trace historical novels written by Shloyme Rosenberg
(1896-1975).

Amongst the novels that I found: R' Akiva [Romanech, NY, 1947]; R' Meir un
Beruriah [Shaulson, NY, 1950]; Di Kuzrim [Yid-bukh (43), Buenos Aires,
1960]; Shabsai Tsvi [Menorah, Israel, 1965]. Both R' Akiva and R' Meir un
Beruriah were later published in Hebrew.

What is strange is that at the end of Di Kuzrim, published in 1960, are
listed 2 other historical novels under- es verren gegreit tsum druckt; Bar
Kochba & Der Koenig Shlomo while at the end of Shabsai Tsvi, published
5 years later in Israel, again are listed these 2 other books as ";being
readied for printing"; (and Bar Kochba is the third of ";the trilogy";- I
assume the other 2 parts being the previously published R' Akiva and R'
Meir un Beruriah) as well as another historical novel, also ";about to
appear in print";: Der Yiddisher Prinz (on Reubeni).

HOWEVER, these 3 books: Bar Kochba, Der Koenig Shlomo and Der Yiddisher
Prinz do not seem to be anywhere- Can they be traced? I would appreciate
any help/ information.
