Maybe I'm just showing my age and maybe English usage rules have changed
some but when I was in school (and no, those weren't the horse and buggy
days) if the "h" on a word was not pronounced, you used "an" as in "an
herbarium" or "an hourglass."

If you want to talk about using nouns as verbs then you can have my
attention...
