JOB DESCRIPTION:
            The individual in this position is responsible for coordinating the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science
            Research and Collections Program.


  *   Coordinates and supervises applied research and inventories/surveys related to nongame, rare, threatened and endangered species and habitats.
  *   Coordinates planning development and maintenance of the scientific specimen collections.
  *   Plans, develops, supervises and manages program grants and budgets.
  *   Supervises and manages program staff and activities.
  *   Provides and coordinates technical conservation guidance to others.

SKILLS REQUIRED:
Individual must have:1) knowledge of wildlife ecology, conservation biology and methodologies;2) knowledge of endangered species conservation;3) understanding of balance between environmental and development/economic needs;4) general knowledge of computer databases;5) strong management, supervisory and communication skills;6) budgeting skills;7) grant writing and editing skills;8) ability to effectively work with scientific professionals, private individuals and state and federal agencies and organizations;9) must also have the ability to effectively evaluate and solve complex situations and multitask.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A Master's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in wildlife/fisheries ecology/biology or in wildlife/fisheries conservation/management or a field of study defined by the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks; and Four (4) years of work experience directly related to the above-described duties.
                                                                        Or
Directly related education above the Master's Degree and directly related experience may be substituted on an equal basis.

STARTING ANNUAL SALARY:
            $45K + Benefits
