I know that there are various people researching methods for rehydration and some are tweaking the existing tehcnology to obtain regular and as near to perfect results as possible. I tend to stick with 3-5% Decon-90 (lab. glassware washing up fluid), warmed to about 30 deg. C for mollusc bodies and it has worked well. You will lose DNA by rehydrating, be warned, so you may wish to keep the odd dried-out specimen aside for that purpose.
You will prob. get some more updated versions of older techniques so some experimentation may be in order. Hopefully you will publish the result.
With all good wishes, Simon.

Subject: [Nhcoll-l] Rehydration question
Does anyone have a method to rehydrate mollusc specimens that have dried in jars? I am wondering whether to try glycerine and am not sure whether to dilute it or use it neat.
Thanks
Mandy
