[Personal_archives] Tuesday morning

Hello Martha and fellow colleagues,
This discussion is of particular interest to me. As I work in an
archives within an museum, archives are more likely to be seen not just
as source of (legal, administrative or historical) information, but also
as objects with their own lives and intrinsic value. This subject is
starting to receive more and more attention from archivists and other
professionals dealing with information management. Archives are also
objetcs which have a function in people"s lives, just as a fork or a
table. Damage, or deterioration of a document, such as a photograph, can
be seen as just another stage in the life of a document.
