Laura,
You are correct-FAST chronological terms are only dates. However, for
open date ranges are displayed with either "Since" or "To" to improve
readability. In this example, "1901-" and "Since 1905" represent the
same period, but the "Since" form seemed more readable. Date ranges
such as "-1905" would be displayed as "To 1905". Geologic periods are
also display with some text (x million years ago). However, all FAST
chronological periods represent either a single date or a date range.

Subject: [SAC-FAST] Chronological FAST heading with "Since"
I was surprised to see this conversion in record 468:
14 651 0 $a Norway $x History $y 1905- $v Fiction.
to
<> 14 648 7 $a Since 1905 $2 fast
15 651 7 $a Norway $2 fast</>
16 655 7 $a History $2 fast
17 655 7 $a Fiction $2 fast
I had heard that FAST chronological terms would be only dates.
Laura
