[yul-naco] Reminder: Authority Toolkit Installation – Tomorrow at 2 PM

Dear NACO catalogers,

I want to thank Wheat for organizing the Authority Toolkit installation and Shelby for conducting the training and writing detailed instructions.

On the last page of the training, we read that after installing the Toolkit, we need to set our organization code:

3. Fill in the NACO symbol (YUS) in the pop-up window and click OK.
Please note that the NACO symbol used by staff in central Technical Services is CtY and not YUS. If you work elsewhere, your code starts with CtY- followed by 1 to 3 extra letters. You can find out the MARC code used by an institution by consulting the MARC code list for organizations<https://www.loc.gov/marc/organizations/org-search.php>. The current file contains over 37,000 codes!

The code YUS is the OCLC code representing the Yale University Library. It is the code used to create and update bibliographic records in OCLC Connexion and WorldShare Manager. The list of OCLC codes can be found in the Directory of OCLC members.<https://www.oclc.org/en/contacts/libraries.html> The file contains more than 55,000 codes!

Dear Colleagues,



With the transition to cataloging in OCLC Connexion after the Alma migration comes a good opportunity for us, NACO librarians, to explore the authority toolkit developed by Gary Strawn and take advantage of this tool to assist with our NACO work.

Shelby has kindly agreed to assist with the toolkit installation. She will guide the group through the installation process and help with troubleshooting. Interested participants are welcome to attend. This session will be conducted via Zoom on January 28, 2025, at 2 PM. A separate session for using the toolkit will be offered in late February or early March.
