Good evening everyone,

There are several ArchivesSpace updates to provide today.

Infrastructure
Work continued today with preparing a large multi-processor, large memory footprint physical server with solid state disk for ArchivesSpace testing. This work is based on outcomes from user testing in Amazon Web Services that indicated the application was much more responsive in this environment. Our interest is to see if an even faster, local server will again improve end-user performance. Library IT is testing the application at present and we hope to invite you to participate in another round of user testing later in the week. Maureen Callahan will again coordinate these activities when appropriate.

Database Optimization
Percona is scheduled to begin performance analysis of the database that ArchivesSpace runs on top of starting Monday, August 17 and completing Thursday, August 20. The vendor will turn around a report that will highlight areas that need to be tuned and or further refined. More about the service can be found here - https://www.percona.com/services/consulting/performance-optimization.

ArchivesSpace Core Code Review
No news to report today.

Data Integrity
Discussions began anew with Lyrasis today to discuss potential opportunities to audit Yale ArchivesSpace data in an effort to uncover data integrity issues that may be hampering performance. Next steps have not been determined. It should also be mentioned that we had similar conversations with Hudson Molonglo last week about a similar engagement. Their recommendation was instead to focus on the ArchivesSpace core code review as articulated above.

Hosting
No news to report today.

Our shared work document is again up-to-date and we invite you to review it at the following address - https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Z20GVHYnnQJ_rMeZPyiqBfc3m-oq0wr54husC9lLmJc/edit?usp=sharing. Please do not hesitate to reach me if you have questions or comments.

Thanks,
Ray
