Hello Everyone,

Welcome to February, and Welcome to a New ArchivesSpace!

This morning ASpace users should go to the password change tool (see instructions in separate email and on the YAMS LibGuide<http://guides.library.yale.edu/archivesspace/home>) and select a password they want to use with ASpace. Please don't hesitate to ask for help with this if you need it, but we hope the instructions are clear and the tool is easy to use.

You will notice some things look a bit different

* Link to Production is now: https://archivesspace.library.yale.edu User must type in the https://

* Link to Test is now: https://yaletest.lyrasistechnology.org (this url will change in the next few weeks-but we will alert you in advance)

* Each instance has new welcome pages to remind users they are in PROD or TEST. Some additional updates may appear here over the next few days as we finalize the transition.

* We are going live with a slightly different styling of the layout. You may notice much more whitespace between content blocks on the ASpace web pages. Please know- this doesn't mean anything is broken! This is a default style Lyrasis uses, and we can change it if feedback from users leads that way. Your eyes will definitely notice the change, but take a look around, let YAMS committee know if it should be adjusted. If you look at the attachments you can readily compare what we had been seeing at Yale and what we will know see at Lyrasis.

* This hosted environment is also faster than what users have experienced locally. We have documented performance tests to support this and can discuss with users in the coming weeks.

* The hosted production and test instances have been successfully resequenced, so any previously locked down records are now free to move about

* Any data added to ASpace after 5pm on Wednesday January 20 is NOT YET in the hosted instances. YAMS will be working with Lyrasis this week to restore it.

You will notice some things look the same

* ArchivesSpace is the same version of the application, 1.4.2

* We have all the same custom plugins in place (top container management, OCLC, etc.)

* Aeon continues to integrate with ASpace for request metadata

* With the transition to Lyrasis, the YAMS committee continues to have responsibility for policy oversight

* With the transition to Lyrasis, Library IT continues to have responsibility for technical oversight in collaboration with Lyrasis IT

Thank you for your patience. We know there is catch up to do with your work. In some cases, you may finally be beginning your work in ASpace. We want to hear from you how it is going. Please contact the YAMS committee to share your experiences with the new production and test environments. We hope the transition is going smoothly for all of you.

Thank you,
The YAMS Committee
