Dear CMS colleagues,
I'm pleased to inform you that we have completed the upgrade of the CatStats program (i.e., the web form at https://deleon.library.yale.edu:8443/CatStatistics/Monograph.jsp and the underlying tables and queries)
Special thanks to Eric James who did the java programming and Gail Barnett who ported it to the production server. Thanks, also, to several of you who completed our survey, made suggestions for enhancements, and performed testing.
Here are the changes you'll see in the new version:
1) Ability to make retroactive changes - If you submit a single start date and end date for a given format, the Summary statistics page for that format pops up, tells you how much you cataloged on that day, and gives you the opportunity to add and subtract in any category".
2) Two format tabs have been added: "Music Scores" and "Audio Materials", while a single tab "Sco/Rec" (Scores and Recordings) has been removed. On the assumption that most of what our department has cataloged as "Sco/Rec" are in fact sound recordings, these can still be found, retrospectively, under Audio Materials. Printed Music/Scores, however, now have their own designated category (which is what ARL requires and what makes sense too).
3) All of the electronic format types (the second row of tabs that are colored red), now have the full range of cataloging categories, and, like the 'analog' formats, allow for retrospective changes. The concept of 'pieces' doesn't apply to the electronic formats (other than CD-ROMs), so just ignore those fields if you see them.
Let me know if you have questions or comments.
Daniel
