Lectureship in Film Studies
Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer in Film Studies,
tenable from 1 September 2000 (or as soon as possible thereafter, by
mutual agreement). The department seeks expertise in one or more of the
following areas: silent cinema, Asian cinema, British cinema, and
television aesthetics, as well as a general knowledge of contemporary
historical, critical and theoretical issues. Consideration will
nevertheless also be given to candidates specializing in other areas of
research. The department wishes to consolidate and enhance its research
excellence in film theory, aesthetics, and world cinema, while extending
and complementing the range of subjects taught within it.
The successful applicant will have, or be in the course of establishing,
a record of research and publication, and will contribute to
undergraduate and postgraduate teaching across a range of courses, as
well as undertaking examining and administrative duties within the
department as required.
UKC is a major centre for Film Studies, offering research and taught
postgraduate programmes together with an undergraduate single honours
degree course in film involving film-making, and combined courses in
film with other humanities subjects.
