Just to remind people, there is Hosokawa Shuhei's fascinating book, 
_Shinema-ya, Burajiru o yuku: Nikkei imin no kyoshu to aidentiti_, 
about how Japanese residents of Brazil used the cinema in their 
identity formations, especially during and after the war. It was 
published by Shinchosha in 1999.
