[Posted to several distribution lists. Please excuse the duplication, and also feel free to forward to other interested colleagues.]
Have you ever been unable to find an LC subject heading that you know must exist? Ever proposed a new heading, only to find that it was not approved because the concept is covered by an existing heading? Then "Searching for Subjects: A Mini-Workshop" is for you! The workshop, which is an adaptation and condensation of a class offered to Library of Congress cataloging staff, will focus on using both LCSH's structure and Classification Web search techniques to find headings that may not be obvious at first glance.
The mini-workshop will consist of discussion of examples and led by Janis L. Young, a senior cataloging policy specialist in the Library of Congress' Policy and Standards Division.
Time: 10:40-11:30 a.m.
Date: Sunday, June 29, 2014
Location: Las Vegas Convention Center, Room N253
If you have ever attended one of these SACO mini-workshops in the past, you know you are in for an informative session, well worth your time. I encourage everyone to attend.
